Kate Cozby

Kate Cozby grew up in North Bend before heading south to Portland for college. She earned a degree in Life Sciences with a minor in Sociology. This combination allowed her to pursue her passion for classes such as neurobiology and genetics as well as constitutional law. Kate pursued her legal education at Seattle University School of law. Since graduating in 2010, she has remained active in the community volunteering her time with a local non-profit that grants the wishes of children with life altering medical conditions; assisting first responders with drafting legal documents; and providing free legal representation to local veterans.

Prior to joining Stein, Lotzkar & Starr, P.S., Kate represented clients in a range of criminal and civil matters including personal injury, intellectual property, and business disputes. She has advocated on behalf of clients at civil hearings, mediations, and criminal hearings. Throughout the course of representation, she has drafted numerous research memorandums in specialized areas such as breach of contract defense, defense of corporate officers, personal injury disputes, and federal white collar defenses. Having had the opportunity to work on the defense of individuals accused of a myriad of crimes both in state and federal court, Kate found her true passion was defending the constitutional rights of the criminally accused. She is dedicated to working with her clients to resolve criminal cases throughout Western Washington.
