Do You Need A Public Defense Attorney?
Public Defenders are made available to represent people who are indigent, which means that they do not have enough money to hire an attorney. To qualify for an attorney at public expense you may have to apply and provide your information to a person called a screener. The screener will let you know if you qualify and then send proof that you have qualified to our office. A judge may also appoint a person to the public defense attorney, in which case there will be an Order of Appointment sent to our office.
