Our Breath Test Machines Have Problems
We are currently challenging the external standard that is suppose to verify that the breath test machine is working properly at the time of the driver's test. These standards are cylinders filled with alcohol in a gaseous state. The manufacturer of the standards has only been testing about one in five of the cylinders that contain the alcohol standard before they send them to our WSP. Low and behold when they started testing and reporting on all of the cylinders they find cylinders that are out of range and therefore not proper for use. It appears that they may have just thrown out the previously discovered bad cylinders and not reported them.
